It has been one of my resolution from year after year after year after year to be active and exercise more.
Alas year after year after year I faltered in this resolution not to my lack of will power, its just that I have no power to will my self to complete a whole training course.
My friend introduced me to INSANITY , my god , that man already had a body ofa beast and physical power of Hercules himself before he created insanity and expected us mere mortals to follow in his foot step?
'Don't stop don't stop."
Are you kidding me!within 10 minutes of the regime I was puffing like a locomotive !Instead of looking younger I had aged 30 years.
Seriously kudos for those who can do it on a daily basis , hat off to you except that I can't move my muscle.
Probably I'm not built for insanity , probably I should go into something simpler to pump up that tiny heart of mine.
So I hit the internet to find any exercise that would capture my interest. Then I realised that there were dozens of fitness dance workout in youtube. Hip hop , zumba , punk , krump....(you did krump?!!!! hehehe I got you there. Of course ...NOT ) Hip hop and zumba suited me well , so I was doing it almost everyday at the comfort of my living room .
Soon I got bored doing it at home and found out that there was a gym near my home that also offered zumba.
Why not ? Since I was starting to like exercise and practically doing it every morning why not join a group and I can use the equipment there. So I enrolled as member at X gym and had a blast doing body jam and zumba . Everything was all well and dandy, I was achieving one of my resolution plus losing weight , I was practically hook ! Added with breeze walking and hiking, the hype was up!Bring it on!
Weekends I was going for jogging as well. I realised that one way to release any stress or anger was to make the exercise more faster , dance more faster , run more faster , jump more harder , I was like a jumping , dancing gazelle (less graceful of course)
And that was when everything went down hill.
One morning I woke up early with an idea to do a short exercise. Short exercise meaning that I wanted to practise this hip hop video that I just watched the previous night, it looked so cool like 'Step up ' kind of cool . I could see it now Step Up the Next Generation staring yours truly or Dancing with the Stars with Derek Hough . Now that would be an awesomely cool reality. For those who are familiar with Fitness Marshall should watch their video , their exercise move is so cool and can definetely leave you sweating (warning not for those hard core Insanity fans this is more gentler, feminine , like Pride and Prejudice instead of Mission Impossible 4 style ( notice how many times that I mention cool in this paragraph :) ) So I was doing one of the routine where I had to kick my right leg forward, right kick, left kick ,turn jump repeat , 1...2...1....2...I was doing it with so much intensity that the 'POP' came quite a surprise and the next thing I knew I was on the floor holding my right leg. I was in denial and didn't think I was in pain, it's ok its just a short sharp pain it will blow away once I start walking , and I actually started believe this as I started ready to go to work.
It was when I got out of the car that I realised that my injury was bad and prolonging more than my liking. Stepping down the stairs triggered every receptor in my right leg combining one message , I was in PAIN. Ouch was an understatement AAAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHN was more like it as I put all my weight on the railing to reduce the pressure. Seeing the doctor was not an option, plus I see the the doctor so often nowaday they might even think that I'm a Nosophobia. I had my pride so I tried out chiropractic . Regular treatment thankfully reduces the pain .
But you would have thought I learned my lesson.
Na ahh not this beast. After two weeks of rest I hit the gym again.

gym-treadmill-use
I actually heeded the chiro's advice take it easy (surprise .....surprise) I swear I took it easy ,I really did. I was walking on the treadmill at a slow pace of 60 ...All alone in the gym on a Saturday morning, minding my own business , listening to the pump up background music motivating me to stay longer on the mill.
It was 20 minutes walking when in came a young girl in her twenties, slim, petite , pretty, young (I think mention that ) using the treamill beside me. She started on a slow pace , then started going into a running pace - Baywatch style. I did try not to look at her , I did , I did remember the chiro's words take it easy . But she's so young and running so fast , and I moved down to a walking pace of 40.
Remember your leg remember your leg.
Now her poney tail was swaying left and right and it looked like her hair was wind blown. How was that possible when the room was fully air condition?
Sweat was running down her face. I wasn't even sweating .From the corner of my eyes I saw the men at the weight corner looking at her.
That's IT .....I increased my speed 40...50...60...70...slight jogging ...80...90 now I was running.
Haha I was running faster than her. I was pretty proud of myself and confidently running even though my right leg was starting to sting. Two ladies running on the threadmill. After quite some time (give it a minute or two) the pain was increasing , I didn't want to back down. I can do it , I can do it even though if my leg had a voice it would be screaming Help me! Help me!
I didn't know whether I was delusional from the pain or my pride was overreacting....did she actually pick up the pace?
I can do that ! 100!!! Ha haaaaaa......Take that, you young small petite lady with wind blown hair!
My leg was killing me but I was resilient....oooh who was I kidding I didn't want to be the first to get off the treadmill , I was like a cowboy holding on the rodeo horse until the final bell. Which I hoooooopppe would be really soon. I was feeling like my leg was going to detach from the knee cap.
Thankfully , thankfully .......the young lady finally slowed down and went to the cooling mode. I shakingly slowed down my pace to moderate ,still running , boy I don't think a mule would be more stubborner than me. She finally got off the threadmill and went into the changing room. I looked at her and glanced at the weight section whether they were still there . The men had also gone. I quickly reduce the pace to 30 and started hobbling. I heard a noice from the changing room and quickly straighten my posture , puff my chest forward and galantly walked not showing any indication of pain. The young lady glanced at me and quickly turned away, her hair toss like in a Pantene commercial.I would have done the same had I not worn a 'Tudong'. Yes people that right there was a sign of respect, if it were men they would had grunted and nodded at each other , we women do hair tosses to either admit defeat or respect for a comrade. I was feeling proud of myself right before I fell on the floor stepping off the threadmill.
That whole weekend my right leg was beginning to feel heaty and I was limping eveywhere.
Too embarass to meet up my chiro , I secretly went to see a physiotherapist and had to, again undergo several treatments as there was a salight hemorage in my leg.
Right now, I'm back to square one. It has been more than 6 month I hadn't gone jogging since from time to time I injured my leg.
I'm starting to become lazy again , probably I'll start the resolution for next year 2017 :)
Niight for now. ........
